To generate interest in the Salty character we created a series of web videos. The videos were to be used as content to support a social media campaign that shared with consumers what Salty was doing now that he is no longer needed as much at Sidekicks. At the end of the web videos, consumers were directed to the Sidekicks website to learn more about the product offering and to participate in a promotion to “Buy 3 packs of Sidekicks and get a free Salty & Pep Shaker” offer.

Mymra Piano and Forte are two variations of a monoline serif Roman face, inspired by Charles Robinson lettering from the Art Nouveau period. The enchantment of some of the charactersâ flamboyant shapes has created an idea to rework the face and bring it to life as a contemporary typeface. Mymra fonts are ideally suited for display use in publications or advertising.

I gave myself an assignment: draw every single US Senator. Even Joe Lieberman. Why the Senate? I have been thinking about the Senate a lot lately. Gridlock in our Senate is pretty much the reason we can't have nice things.
But really, 100 is a nice round number and old millionaires have funny faces and I thought it might be fun and challenging to draw them.
Simple, fun project. I likes.

Although Mike Posner was previously featured by Cyanatrendland last september I could not help but to share this track. The 22-year-old Duke University senior is quite the talent, not only producing his own music but singing and songwriting too. Cooler Than Me featuring hip hop artist Big Sean, despite it's 2009 release on Mike's album Mike Posner & the Brain Trust has still not yet penetrated the popular market. The song is about all of those girls out there who think they are better than everyone and never stop to give a guy the time of day to shine. Mike's skills definitely shine and I expect for this talent to blow up in the very near future.

A very slick and sumptuous portfolio from London-based studio Egelnick and Webb. Featuring some stunning art direction and nicely crafted typography, print and web work for a range of top fashion brands, as well as a few other household names.

Toben are one these Australian studios that just made me thinking — Is the air on the other side of the Earth different, full of little creativity booster molecules? Aside from their lovely work, they got a tasteful presentation too.

The Tyrant Clock, designed by Alice Wang has to be the meanest alarm clock concept ever invented. Some alarm clocks make a terribly annoying noise or require you to complete a physical task to shut them off. There’s even some now that will shake your bed until you’re up. Not the Tyrant Clock. This clock takes waking up into pure psychological warfare territory. You’re not going to hear many alarm clocks called pure diabolical evil but there you go, you just did.

CCCP Amsterdam launch a new digital project for the Dutch Nature Preservation Society (Natuurmonumenten): maakeenmeter.nl (Make a Metre). Natuurmonumenten wanted to stress the need for more natural open space in the Netherlands in order to prevent species from extinction. To raise awareness for this problem, CCCP developed the idea of user-generated ‘nature’: a square metre of for everyone. This results in the co-creation of ‘nature’, in an online environment. All these square metres put together will form “The World’s Largest Website”. Users create their own online square metre by choosing from six typical dutch natural environments. All metres are scaled 1:1, so with every metre made, another one is added to the surface of the website. This results in a never-ending digital ‘patchwork’ landscape, made up of forrest, dunes, water and fen. The site is like an oasis of peace and tranquility on the internet. You can stroll around for hours or just relax on your own stretch of nature as a break from the stressful lives we live.

Ah the woes of being overweight, ask me about it! You need constant reminders to “watch it” and ensure that you stick to your regime. Rug with Scale is one such aid and should ideally be placed in front of your bathroom door so that every time you come out of the loo, you feel happy! The scale typically shows your previous weight, present weight, and goal weight. But the rug underneath can be removed and switched for cleaning etc.

Not quite a music video post this morning, but some moving image none the less. I’ve been following Spine TV for a little while and am always impressed by their artists video series, Stolen Moments. Simply shot, informative interviews with some really great creatives. Embedded is a bit of a personal favourite with the more than welcoming Michael Marriott.

Posting cool stuff on Adverblog is getting more and more difficult. I mean, I think the time of cool microsites is almost over. I was discussing the topic with some friends in Amsterdam the other day. To be successful and to be meaningful, you need to do more than a website. You need to connect it with the offline world, and surely you need to create a story worth being noticed and shared through social media. Paid media is no longer enough to drive traffic. And, in the same way a good/creative website doesn't make a campaign successful if you don't build an integrated action around it. So, getting back to the point, to become a cool campaign we can write about, you need to tell us a story that goes beyond sharing a link.

“Sexual Color” is a photographic series by Gabriel Wickbold. He invited Brazilian celebrities for the photo shoot, and they were covered with chocolate, gouache, airbrush paint, synthetic hair, coconut vines, sand, and makeup.

The form factor of your cellphone is quite a defining factor on whether you approve of it or not. The grip, the interface and accessibility, all depend on this. At Yanko, we have covered some really unique and unusual forms and here is a re-cap of the Ten Most Unusual Shapes For Mobile Phones.
10) Nokia 888 Mobile Phone by Tamer Nakisci

A wiggly worm or a bracelet, you choose its form!
9) Tarati – Touchless Cellphone by Nonobject

No keys on this phone, just poke your stubby fingers through the holes to dial the numbers, fat fingers…watchout!

Long before someone thought of the tablets, designer Seokwon Hong gave us a taste of prime screen space with this concept. It just whetted our appetite for more, only difference is that we don’t need multiple faces to seamlessly connect, just a single iPhone-esque piece will do.
7) Soft Mobile Phone Concept by Roman Kriheli

Reminds me of a puffer fish more than anything else! It just bloats up!
6) Dial Phone by Jung Dae Hoon

Jewelry, retro , projector mish-mash!
5) Mobile Script Phone by Aleksandr Mukomelov

Like a script that opens up to unveil the secrets, the OLED screen unfurls and becomes your playground.

This phone was probably heavily influenced by Dan Brown!

Cotton Candy of a phone; It’s a series of discs with electronic fabric stretched in between! Unique in shape and materials.
2) Wearable Mobile Phone by Sunman Kwon

How many times have you used your fingers to dial a number, now how about using them for a keypad?
1) Moto Concept by Joseph Liang

This has to be the cutest looking phone EVER! A total DOLL!

In case you missed 'em...Over the course of the last two weeks, we've posted 10 wacky video-based tips aimed at helping you get the most out of your iPhone/iPod Touch. Head on over to our Etre Touchy blog for a round-up!

Fontfabric is an independent type foundry , which was launched at the close of 2008 by designer Svetoslav Simov who is based in Sofia, Bulgaria. Our goal is to create high-quality fonts which stand in a unique class of their own, and which will serve as a good base for any designer project whether it be web, print, t-shirt design, logo etc.

Tom McAlister points us to a terrific article on TwistedSifter.comabout the "Razzle Dazzle Camouflage movement:" during WWI.
It was the British artist and naval officer Norman Wilkinson who to elude detection by German U-Boats, decided to paint hulls of his naval fleet with geometric patterns and shapes to confuse the Germans on where the ships were headed. As TwistedSifter states - "Then their torpedoes will be shot in vain because they thought you zigged when you really zagged."
Unfortunately today only black-and-white photos exist. Here's some of our favorites:

Unleash your creativity to make the world a better place. HUGO Fragrances has teamed up with environmental organization Pur to plant a tree in Peru's Amazonian Rainforest for each special edition HUGO Man and HUGO Element fragrance sold. From January 2010, HUGO Fragrances lovers can support the sustainability initiative One Fragrance, One Tree just by purchasing their favorite perfume. The Peruvian plantation sponsored by the Boss/Pur project covers 800 hectare (three times the area of NYC's Central Park). Each special edition packaging includes a unique "tree code" to allow customers to view the location of the tree their purchase sponsored.
Designers, illustrators and photographers can also make a great contribution to this reforestation project by creating a visual and spreading the word. Visuals should contain the HUGO Man bottle and convey a strong concept in line with the theme One Fragrance, One Tree. Be creative, use your imagination as well as the technique(s) of your choice. The 10 winners receive $500 and global recognition. The visual of the round winner will be published in style magazine i-D.
Deadline is February 28, 2010 and the winners will be announced on April 1, 2010. You can find more information and examples by other participants on the HUGO Create website.

That’s another name for this product that I just made up! I mean the name, that is, this concept was designed by the incomparable Amirko, and it’s real name is “Change It!” Ohh scoop it! It’s one big wall of turn-triangles. Each of these triangles has different colors on them – white – black – and a slightly unique rainbow shade. As you can see in the first picture here, when the color is on full blast, it makes a mural all it’s own.
What combination of madness can be made? Choose your own adventure!
For now it’s the colors as explained above. In the future it might have any number of different choices for the sides – lights, materials, typography, body parts, animal fur, whatever!
